Borrowdale 2003
Postcard from Borrowdale. (Dave Brown)
Trip report of a club weekend meet in the lake district.
Saturday 13 September 2003 - 10:00 a.m. Arrived at the cafe in Grange following a visit to Martin & Harmony's new residence above Keswick (its awesome views of mountain and lake already legendary - yes, we were taken upstairs to see!). Jo and Elaine had arrived and ordered bacon butties. The campers appeared - Jim Cook, Simon Wood, Rob Grafton and Andy Bunnage. Tea was downed. We were on our way to Black Crag.
Sweating up the steep path above Troutdale, someone observed - 'This is no roadside crag!' Another - 'I need a top-rope'. Out of the trees loomed acres of rock. High above, climbers could be made out a figure in white balanced against the dark, impending wall of Prana, and what appeared to be figures with rucksacks esconced on the classic Troutdale Pinnacle. It was time to get down to business.
